On Making a Difference

I heard someone say today in an interview that boils down to that if we are living our lives for us alone then we are wasting our life- that it's not about US but about those around us, and the lives that we can make a difference in.

I agree.

I wonder though, how this society that we live in went from being caring and compassionate of others to a society that is mostly concerned with looking out for Numero Uno?

I believe we ALL should think about ourselves and do what's best for us, but this is far more than that.

Do you ever wonder how this became the ME, ME, ME generation?

I challenge you to be honest with you, and ask yourself if you are part of the problem, or part of the solution. We can't be both, but the positive thing is that it's not too late to turn things around.

Life is short- live it well.

My Gratitude List for March 11, 2009.

Today I'm Grateful For:

1- Ice cold milk.

2- Marcel and I washing the car together.

3- Mom's who call at just the right moment.

4- Sunshine on my shoulders.

5- Those who understand me, and who genuinely care.

31 Days to a Healthier Diet

March 11- Chew on schedule.

Too much time between meals can drop your energy levels, decrease your metabolism and result in overeating. Space your meals evenly throughout the day and eat a healthy snack in between each meal.

I think we all thought we were living the good life. Society taught us to want, want, want - bigger houses, vehicles, $500 shoes, three trips a year.
It takes a lot of work to achieve that, so we stop hanging out with friends and family and just go on making money to cover our butts.
It's only going to change if we teach our children something different. I hope we do.
Have a good Wednesday Lori!

while having my ears lowered today, "Carmen" suggested that i should start up my own bar and she would work for me. i been thinking about it and realized that i couldn't do it. simply for the fact that if i knew one of my patrons killed either themselves or somebody else, i'd be unable to live with the guilt of it. guess it lines up with....where it says although we live in the world, we're not really part of it? yet, i'm right down in the s*** with everybody else. great post, Lori:)

You know you can also include others while living the good life so to speak.

Share the joy. It makes the good times even better....

there are times too consider others, yet there are also times when you HAVE to think of you!

I think most all people live their lives helping others, in some little way.

No one's perfect.

Also we gotta love ourselves, before we can love someone else.

That's a known fact.

I wholeheartedly agree with this post. How right you are If we could all really care about others as well as ourselves what a beautiful world this would be. Thanks for an enlightening post!

Kate I believe you are right- and I also believe that there are good things that can come out of this situation, because people are having to start being more conscious and spending more time at home, and hopefully with their families. It has the potential to strengthen families again.

Maybe you should start an internet cafe and coffee shop instead Ramsey :) That could be fun.

I agree with you Bobby, and I don't see anything wrong with living the good life, and in fact, the person who said that was Will Smith, who is definitely living the good life, but who also knows the importance of giving back and teaches his children the importance of that.

I believe there is a difference in living your life completely for yourself, and seeing the importance of giving back. You are dead on Bobby- share the joy. That's what life is all about.

Yes, Dorrie, I believe we ALL have to consider ourselves at times, but that's not what I'm talking about here.

Very true Sunny- very true. I do believe we have to love ourselves. And you are right- most people do help others along the way, the little things do mean alot.
